Aquatic Center Reopening Plan

Bloomer Area Aquatic and Recreation Center consulted with the Chippewa County Public Health Department and referenced guidelines put forth in the Wisconsin Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19 – Entertainment and Amusements by the Wisconsin Department of Health, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Wisconsin  Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection and the Badger Bounce Back Plan and the American Red Cross.


The following plan outlines the measures we are taking to ensure the safety of our members, customers employees and the community. We have the right to refuse services to anyone exhibiting symptoms or not following facility guidelines set forth in this plan.

We are temporarily limiting the facility to members only and will have no group classes. We will not be issuing day passes at this time.


We are temporarily changing some hours of operation. We will be open daily 5:00 am to 12:15p, some evenings 4pm to 7:30pm , Saturday 12:30pm to 3:30pm and Sunday Noon to 3:30 pm.

All swimming will be done by assigned times—Call 715-568-3483 to establish a time.

Employee Health and Hygiene

  • Employees who have symptoms of COVID-19 or are sick should stay home.

  • We will maintain and supply paper towels, hand soap and hand sanitizer for employees to practice hand hygiene.

  • We will provide tissues for proper sneeze/cough etiquette and no-touch garbage cans.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, or into your inner elbow if no tissue is available. Use hand sanitizer or wash your hands thoroughly before returning to work.

  • Employees should take these steps:

    • Wash hands when you arrive to work, after working with a member, after touching your mask, after using the bathroom, after each swimming lesson session, between hourly swim times and when leaving work.

    • We require that employees wear a mask at work if physical distancing cannot be maintained on the job. We will provide our employees with face masks or they may be brought in.

Clean and Disinfect

  • We will clean and disinfect frequently touched items in the facility, pool deck, restrooms and shower areas because respiratory droplets can settle on them.

  • Doors that can be propped open to avoid surface touching will be open.

  • Increased cleaning frequency:

    • We will clean and disinfect the entire facility including those frequently touched surfaces seven days per week.

    • During the weekdays, we will disinfect frequently touched surfaces throughout the day.

    • We have a checklist for cleaning that tracks the frequency of cleaning.

  • We are increasing the availability of wipes, towels, disinfectant and hand sanitizer throughout the facility.

  • Towels and clothing should be removed from the building after each visit. Any items left will treat as potentially contaminated, without touching we will wash and dry with the highest temperatures. Face masks should be worn by all staff handling dirty laundry or face masks.


Physical Distancing and Equipment Layout

  • We ask that members practice social distancing and keep six feet apart when in the facility. Be aware of your surroundings and other people’s space.

  • We have spaced the pool out with lanes at least six feet apart and limit the number of members utilizing the pool.

  • Temporarily locker rooms will be closed. Family changing rooms, bathrooms and the shower room area off the pool deck will be available to change in ONLY—NO showering permitted at this time.

We consider the health and safety of all our Members, Guests and Employees our priority.

Face covering is currently required to enter the building.

If you are a swimmer-- face covering is not required while swimming. 

  • Once you have changed please take all personal items out onto the pool deck and place on one of the chairs located on the pool deck. Chairs are all spaced—Do Not move them.

  • We will disinfect all areas after each hour swim session, after classes and during down time.

  • We will disinfect the front desk following every member or individual encounter.

  • After you are done swimming and have changed, we ask that you collect your personal items and exit through the double doors on the pool deck unless otherwise instructed.

Member Health and Safety

  • We will communicate updates via email, social media, website and post throughout the facility.

  • Members are asked to wear face coverings or a mask into and out of the facility. Members may choose to wear a mask while in the pool if they wish.

  • All fans have been removed from the facility temporarily.

  • The sign-in sheet has been removed. Lifeguards will have the hourly signup sheets and will mark you as you enter.

  • If you are a Silver Sneakers Member- you are still required to register your card. Please let the office know when you check in so that they can wipe down machine between each use. Do not leave the machine until office has been notified.

  • We will remove all unnecessary touch points, especially those that cannot be sanitized.

  • Member Guidelines

  • If you are sick or someone in your home is sick, please refrain from using the facility until symptom-free for 3 days.

  • If you have been in contact with someone positive of COVID-19, please refrain from using the facility for 14 days.

  • Maintain physical distance of six feet apart from other members and employees.

  • For your safety, we encourage Pool Members to ENTER through the front Main entrance and to exit out the double glass doors on the pool deck.

  • Plan your workout routine ahead of time to avoid lingering and socializing.

  • Limit the items you touch within the building to only the items you use. If you touch it, you must clean it

  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before entering the pool.

If you are a Member, your membership end date has been extended to reflect the number of days that we were closed.
